Open-access Una perspectiva global de la educación policial desde una revisión sistemática

A global perspective on police education based on a systematic review

Global police education faces constant challenges given its essential role in security. While each country defines its police institution's role and training processes based on domestic regulations, international cooperation and the adoption of best practices are fundamental. This study analyzes global trends in police training to thoroughly understand this phenomenon. The main objective is to examine the educational processes of law enforcement agencies globally, identify areas for improvement, and highlight existing best practices. The research posits that modernizing education with innovative pedagogies, technology, and a strong emphasis on human rights and ethics will result in a more effective, fair, and respectful service to citizens.

The methodology employed was a qualitative systematic review of 60 studies published between 2001 and 2024, excluding research from Colombia to provide a strictly global perspective. In conclusion, the study highlights the need to professionalize police training, identifying deficiencies in technology watch, strategic foresight, and knowledge management. Addressing these issues is crucial for effective policing based on respect for human rights and the strategic use of technology.
