Ciencia y Educación
Ciencia y Educación is a journal aimed at those who, from academia, educational practice, or regulatory institutions, value and promote innovative education committed to the best interests of our people and the quality of life of citizens. Therefore, it publishes conceptual and empirical contributions that contribute to the advancement of Science and Education. Its purpose is to create an innovative space contextualized to our realities, through the current topics under discussion, the research reported and the experiences shared. We attach importance to the subsequent impact of what we publish within educational institutions, including those involved in the definition and execution of public policies.
Biannual magazine (January-April and September-December) published by the Instituto Tecnológico de Santo Domingo (INTEC), with emphasis on the free discussion of ideas on the contribution of Science to Education, and vice versa, from an international, multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary perspective, in connection with all educational levels and modalities.
The authors assign the publication rights, through a letter sent to the editor, as indicated in previous paragraphs. Being part of multiple indexers, databases and important international reference systems, the articles will be visible and can also be downloaded from these websites, indicating, in all cases, the authorship of the articles, the date of publication and the number of the journal to which they correspond. All texts published by Ciencia y Educación can be downloaded from the journal's website and from the databases where this academic publication is indexed.
In the editorial process, the Scientific Committee and the Editor are responsible for ensuring that each contribution aligns with the journal’s editorial line and themes, assessing its relevance in relation to the journal’s objectives, and actively participating in the selection of reviewers. They may also propose the inclusion of the journal in databases or indexing services for evaluation.

Editorial Confidentiality
Confidentiality will be upheld throughout the entire editorial process regarding the identity of the authors and the articles or submissions received. Submissions will not be shared with other editors or journal managers unless it is strictly necessary to evaluate a case of misconduct or ethical violation, particularly in cases of multiple publication. Information about the status or decision of an article will not be shared with anyone outside the authors. The identities of reviewers will be protected in accordance with the double-blind peer review system.
Impartiality
The Editor, the Scientific Committee, and the Technical Editorial Committee are impartial entities whose primary interest is to ensure the quality of the journal. Their members must respect the intellectual independence of authors, as well as well-founded opinions.
Review Process
The Scientific and Technical Editorial Committees rely on experience, professionalism, and scientific merit to select peer reviewers. Reviewers must formally declare that they have no conflicts of interest with the authors or with the topics of the manuscripts they will evaluate, using the designated review instrument.
All articles undergo a rigorous peer-review process. Reviewers, in addition to being unaware of the authors’ identities and affiliations, are prohibited from using any information, data, arguments, texts, or ideas from a manuscript under review. The decision-making process will be transparent, communications will use respectful language, and authors will receive the full reports resulting from the review process.
Conflicts of Interest
Reviewers must decline to evaluate a manuscript if doing so could create a conflict of interest with their work or if they have any special connection with the author(s). Similarly, if a member of the Scientific or Technical Editorial Committee submits an article or collaboration to the journal, they must refrain from suggesting or selecting reviewers and are required to comply fully with all editorial policies of Ciencia y Educación.
Timeliness
The journal is committed to publishing articles and collaborations according to the annual publication schedule for each issue, considering the authors’ responsiveness in incorporating, adjusting, or processing the reviewers’ suggested changes, and ensuring quality and seriousness in both submissions and evaluations.
Non-Repetition
The journal does not publish works by the same author(s) in consecutive issues. A minimum interval of two issues is required before another contribution by the same author can be considered, and all such submissions must undergo the full peer-review process. Additionally, no single issue will include more than one article or contribution by the same author.
Marking and Identification
Each article published in Ciencia y Educación is assigned a DOI® number, which appears below the author’s affiliation. Along with these details, the author’s ORCID (Open Research and Contributor ID) will also be published, providing a unique, persistent identifier that links the article to the author’s scientific production.
The philosophical, ideological, or other viewpoints expressed in the articles published in the journal are solely the responsibility of the authors and should not be interpreted as reflecting the opinions or positions of the Editorial Board or the Editorial Committee of Ciencia y Educación.
Authors transfer the publication rights to the journal for dissemination in both print and digital formats. However, once their work has been published in the journal, authors retain the right to republish it in any medium or platform of their choice, provided that they cite the article and acknowledge Ciencia y Educación as the primary or original source of publication. Because the journal is included in multiple international indexers, databases, and reference systems, its articles may also be accessed and downloaded from those platforms. In every case, the authorship, publication date, and corresponding issue number of the journal will be clearly indicated. All texts published by Ciencia y Educación can be downloaded from the journal’s website at https://revistas.intec.edu.do/ and from the databases where the journal is indexed.
Retraction policy:
Ciencia y Educación assumes that all statements made by each author in their intellectual authorization letter (Form I), submitted prior to the publication of the text, are accurate and that the manuscript adheres to the principles of good research practices (scientific rigor, research ethics, and good faith). Accordingly, the journal presumes that the commitments made and the data provided do not violate the principles of research or publication ethics.
To maintain a sound anti-plagiarism policy aligned with best editorial practices, all manuscripts submitted to the journal are, without exception, subjected to processes that identify grammatical matches and potential similarities with existing texts across various academic databases. The purpose of this process is to accurately determine whether another publication with a similar topic exists or whether the submitted text contains irregularities, such as plagiarism of ideas or concepts, or improper paraphrasing or citation.
To detect irregularities and potential plagiarism, the journal uses two tools: Google Scholar and Turnitin, a software platform designed to detect similarities and the use of AI. If significant overlaps are identified between the submitted manuscript and a previously published text, the journal will prepare a detailed report specifying all sources (journal websites, databases, etc.), the percentage of similarity by source type, and other relevant aspects. This report will be sent to the author to request an explanation and to determine whether the case constitutes plagiarism, self-plagiarism, or other forms of unethical editorial practices.
Evaluators may consider not evaluating a certain text if they understand that assuming the task may generate conflicts of interest with their work, or if they realize that they have some special connection with the author or authors of the research. If any member of the journal's editorial board submits an article for review, he/she should refrain from expressing an opinion on the appointment of reviewers and is obliged to assume all the rules and provisions set forth in the editorial policy of Science and Education.
Ciencia y Educaciónwelcomes and publishes original, unpublished articles of various types, highlighting its commitment to advancing knowledge and improving educational quality in general. The sections are:
4.2.1. Research Articles: Reports on research studies on educational topics that, using a scientific methodology and under a qualitative, quantitative, or mixed approach, present results, conclusions, and recommendations that may later contribute to the development of better educational practices. Science and Education gives priority to this type of work. (Maximum length: 10,000 words).
4.2.2. Theoretical or Review Articles: Analyses of topics, situations, or educational concepts with novel approaches and critical perspectives that contribute to the advancement of educational theory. This section also includes meta-analyses of research in any area of education. (Maximum length: 6,000 words).
4.2.3. Educational Echoes: Reviews of books, websites, newly approved regulations, new technologies or educational resources, films, conferences, or other types of professional activities. This section also includes interviews and presentations with key figures who have generated innovative ideas or practices that contribute to improving educational quality. (Maximum length: 3,000 words).
All published articles can be downloaded and are stored on the Ciencia y Educación platform in digital formats such as PDF, XML, HTML, or EPUB.
All articles include the associated metadata (title, authors, abstract, keywords, etc.).
All articles have persistent identifiers (DOI) to ensure long-term accessibility.
Images, graphics, tables, videos, and other visual elements that complement the articles are included as part of the published texts and are preserved in the original form submitted by the authors through the OJS platform.
All materials, information, and issues published are available on the journal’s website.
The journal is also an important part of the materials stored in INTEC’s Institutional Repository.
