Abstract
Research has become an indispensable tool for the professional development of teachers. However, the time and academic workload of future teacher students is a limitation to implement a quality research process. This has given way to the formation of research seed groups, a space that requires learning to research by researching. This study evaluates the level of research skills developed by seed students. A quantitative, non-experimental, descriptive approach was used. Data was obtained by applying a survey and a written test based on a problem to evaluate the level of research skills. All seed students were worked with. Regarding the level of research skills developed by the seed students, it is concluded that they have high and basic levels of skills. Among the high levels are the ability to construct the title of the project after posing a problem, identify the topics of the conceptual framework in coherence with the research developed and identify the sample and population. As for writing research questions in accordance with the problem statement, differentiating research approaches and distinguishing data analysis techniques according to the type of research, their level of competence is basic. It is evident that the seed students develop research skills, this constitutes an important process that shows the development of contextualized actions. It is important to continue promoting these groups of seed students at the higher level.
