Abstract

This article analyzes the importance of semiconductor education as a driver for technological integration in Latin America and the Caribbean. It highlights the need for specialized educational programs in semiconductors to train professionals capable of developing and manufacturing chips, with the goal of attracting foreign direct investment and strengthening the region's global competitiveness. A documentary review of previous studies and case analysis of successful initiatives in other regions was conducted, focusing on the current state of semiconductor education in Latin America and strategies for implementing these programs. Significant limitations were identified, such as the lack of infrastructure and specialized teachers in the region, although countries like Brazil and Mexico have started developing programs. The proposed educational programs have the potential to generate high-quality jobs and boost technological innovation. The implementation of educational programs in semiconductors is crucial for the technological and economic development of the region. Collaboration between universities, governments, and industry is key to overcoming challenges and positioning Latin America and the Caribbean as a relevant player in the global semiconductor industry value chain.
