Abstract
Despite advances in the legal sphere, the practical implementation of the ethno-educational process has not progressed significantly in the Colombian context, resulting in limited impacts and transformations within communities. Addressing this issue requires conducting critical historical research to understand its underlying causes and explore political and pedagogical solutions. This paper aims to analyze the historical development of the ethno-educational process in the Department of Bolívar. To achieve this, a qualitative methodology utilizing ethnographic tools, such as semi-structured interviews, and a review of documentary sources like newspaper articles, are employed. The findings of this study highlight a lack of understanding regarding the cultural realities of these communities and the fundamental principles of ethno-education. Therefore, it is necessary to provide teacher training that incorporates these aspects, integrate them into the curriculum, and ensure their application reaches the entire population.
