The investigation provides a comprehensive overview of the rebellion led by Francisco Roldán and his associates on the island of Hispaniola from 1497 to 1499. It analyzes the factors that precipitated the conflict, as well as the route taken by the insurgents through the island’s geography, identifying key waypoints, from the outbreak to the peace negotiations in Azúa. Additionally, it examines the sociopolitical and economic background of the agreements reached, particularly the initial accord established in Concepción de la Vega in November 1498 and the truce in Azúa in September 1499. This analysis enables the identification of the primary motivations of the Roldanistas and the strategies employed for conflict resolution.
