Ciencia y Sociedad is a quarterly journal (January-March, April-June, July-September and October-December) that meets the international criteria of ethics, quality, positioning, periodicity and availability of open access online (Open Access). It is a scientific publication edited and sponsored since 1975 by the Technological Institute of Santo Domingo (INTEC) which in June 2016 migrated all its files and became an online journal.
Ciencia y Sociedad aims to disseminate research in Social Sciences and Humanities to promote debates on social and cultural problems based on the diversity of approaches and synergies between scientific disciplines. It is a medium with a multi and interdisciplinary vocation that collects the scientific production of the Dominican Republic, Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as scientific results that are generated on these regions in other global academic spaces.
The accepted texts will be submitted to the judgment of several people or experts who act as external reviewers. This process is done double blind. Once reviewed, articles can be returned to the author with one of the following tags: a) publishable without modifications; b) publishable with modifications from the reviewers; c) rejected or not publishable. The author will have 12 working days to incorporate the aforementioned modifications and for this purpose they will receive a change verification and modification form that must be completed.
The general editor will make a preliminary assessment of the originals received to determine if it is appropriate to submit the text to the peer review process. The articles or collaborations that present deficiencies in the preliminary stage (title, abstract, references, problems of structure, foundation, or do not adapt to the editorial or thematic line of the journal) will not pass to evaluation.
Each article or contribution can be reviewed by two or three expert reviewers (never less), and at least two of them must be external to the institution that publishes the journal.
Ciencia y Sociedad ensures compliance with all national and international ethical standards in the process of publishing academic and scientific texts. Texts previously published in print or digitally are not accepted or published. Authors must present the results of rigorous, transparent research processes and following the ethical principles of intellectual creation and research. Each author assumes responsibility for the text sent or published, so they must declare the existence or not of conflicts of interest with respect to the submitted text, in addition to declaring that all the data are true and of their own authorship. The journal keeps and strives to comply with all ethical provisions related to publication standards; In this sense, Ciencia y Sociedad tries to identify and prevent the publication of articles in which unwanted, fraudulent or ethically questionable editorial practices have been incurred (plagiarism, self-plagiarism, manipulation and falsification of citations or data). The journal fully and comprehensively assumes and subscribes to all the norms and provisions set forth by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). This link provides detailed information on the good practices of the editor, authors and researchers: https://publicationethics.org/resources/code-conduct.

However, once published in the journal, the authors have the power to republish them in any medium or platform that is of their consideration, as long as they cite the article and the primary or original source of publication.
