Free drawing as a strategy to enhance creativity and autonomy: guide for early education teachers

A no experimental research with a deductive-inductive methodological design is presented. This study integrates quantitative and qualitative approaches through descriptive, hermeneutic, and propositional methods, focusing on free drawing as a dynamic strategy to foster creativity and autonomy in preschool children. The objective is to analyze activity guides that utilize free drawing techniques to stimulate creative skills in children aged 4 to 6 years, serving as a tool for teacher training. A framework is developed to support the design of teaching guides consisting of activities derived from formative research, designs, and materials originating from the Preschool Education teacher training program at the Universidad Católica de Cuenca (Ecuador), with appropriate curriculum support that may be beneficial in other educational contexts. This study concludes that free drawing significantly contributes to promoting autonomy aligned with diverse worldviews. This work is derived from the Latin American Thought Research Group: Decoloniality, Education and Political Systems (PLADESPO).
