Abstract:
After colonial possessions loss the power in 1898, aplenty of regulations were promulgated in Spain that sought to curb the incipient Basque and Catalan nationalisms due to the fear that this could provoke in territorial integrity keeping. In these lines, this regulatory process that culminates in the current National Defense Law of 2005, is analysed, with special mention to the role played throughout this period by the Army.
